An occasional blank line in an exported text file is normal and correct. The carriage return character is legal for use in file names in the Mac OS even though it is not possible to use it when naming files in the Finder. For this reason some system files are created with a return at the end of the name to avoid naming conflicts with normal files. The most common examples are the invisible files which contain the custom icons for folders.
